Information:-
Production Type: - Make To Order
The Finished Product for every Sales order Quantity consists of multiple batches. Each batch has a fixed quantity of weight. Thus for each sales order item, there can be multiple batches.
Below is the screenshot for the batch characteristics with the illustration.
- Every batch has characteristics “Sales Order Item” & “Bundle Number”.
- “Sales Order Item”:- This characteristic provides information about the corresponding Sales order item to which the batch belongs.
- “Bundle Number”:- This characteristic is unique for every batch number. Every batch has a unique bundle number. Thus for Sales
order/ item 105006/010, if there are 10 bundles (say 1-10), then the bundle numbers can be represented as 105006/010-001 - Several batches or bundles are clubbed to one sales order lot.
After the batches for the bundles are created, the finished goods are moved to storage location 0021. Here the HU No (Handling Unit Number) is created and assigned for every individual batch
Example: - For the bundle 105006/010-001 (say) a corresponding Handling Unit No:- 105006010001 is created.
The Finished goods are then containerized and a container number HU is created
Scenario:-
There are several production orders corresponding to different sales order a given time. The customers tend to change their requirements/ quantities in the midway. To deal with this, the batches/ bundles belonging to a particular sales order lot is assigned to other customers
We have designed a program which fulfills this requirement.
The program takes the source and target bundles as input.
For the source bundles it deletes the Handling unit, reverses the goods movement & updates the following batch characteristics, “SALES ORDER ITEM”, “BUNDLE NUMBER” with that of the target sales order.
In order to analyze the successand the error messages, we have added two new transaction codes in the foreground, which generates the logs for success and failed change batch postings.
Problem :-
When this program is used for the change batch process, it is seen in case of some batches / bundles , the storage location is wrong. We have explored the program and it is concluded that there are no bugs in the program. The wrong storage location is due to some external program. To illustrate the problem better , I am attaching a screenshot for the sequence of process and issue.
We have checked the logs in SM37 & it is observed that in such cases of failed Change batch, there is a background job for goods movement which is picking the newly assigned batches and moves it to different storage location.
We have consulted this with the Basis Team, but we are unable to trace the background job details. However every time the Change batch fails, we
see that there is a background job being run but are unable to trace it.
Since the entire SAP Team have investigated and could not trace the exact reason for the same. This issue has become very critical to our business as we observe many failed messages recently. Though this is not a standard program, yet we request you to kindly consider this issue as a matter of great importance to us and kindly provide us with some assistance/ resolution.
